Royal Highland Show – made from toys!

We at Caledonia Play are very much missing show season as the ten or so shows we would normally have attended have been cancelled this year.

One of our favourite shows is The Royal Highland Show held at Ingliston Showground, Edinburgh. It too has been cancelled however, one family have come up with a brilliant way to recreate the event using toys.

As described on the BBC website, Brother and sister Hamish and Ailie have created their very own version of the Royal Highland Show in their back garden at home while in lockdown.

They created areas for horse jumping, a dog competition arena, spectators and even a small space where the animals can be prepared to be shown off at the show ground.

The family spent around six hours putting the whole display together and very likely learnt a good bit about running an outdoor show and the layout of all the various sections. Things they’ll look forward to seeing for real again next year!
