Hutchesons’ Grammar School is a leading independent school in Glasgow, providing education from nursery through to senior school. Caledonia Play was delighted to design, manufacture and install a new outdoor learning and play space, creating a varied environment where children can be active, explore their surroundings, use their imagination and learn through play.

Caledonia Play was approached to design, manufacture and install the complete outdoor play project. Our timber play equipment was manufactured in-house and installed on site, with trusted specialist contractors carrying out the groundworks and safety surfacing. All equipment was designed and installed to meet the relevant play safety standards, ensuring the finished space was safe, robust and built to last.

The completed space features a fantastic mix of climbing, balancing, traversing and sensory activities, alongside areas for imaginative and social play.

Caledonia Play installed the following products:
The installation includes an imaginative den, outdoor seating bench maze, sensory light tunnel, agility cube and full agility trail, as well as embankment play with a stainless-steel slide and climbing ramp. Outdoor recreational pods, gazebos and dedicated play zones provide spaces for children to relax, socialise and enjoy imaginative play, while throne planters, outdoor seating and circular tree seating create further places to gather and enjoy the outdoor environment.

Using natural timber and a mix of carefully chosen play elements, Caledonia Play created a space with something for everyone. From physical challenges that help build strength, balance and confidence to quieter areas for creativity and social interaction, the finished outdoor area gives children plenty of opportunities to play, explore, challenge themselves and, most importantly, have fun.

At Caledonia Play, we are proud to offer support beyond the installation itself. We have registered and certificated RPII inspectors as part of our team who can carry out ongoing maintenance inspections after installation, helping to make sure the equipment remains safe, secure and in good condition.

Our play equipment is designed and installed to comply with the relevant British and European safety standard BS EN1176, giving schools and other settings peace of mind for years to come.
